Company
History
Tungate is a group of companies run by entrepreneurial local management
teams who have built up strong market positions with products
and services to a growing number of major national & multinational
organisations, including very small companies. In doing so they
have achieved exceptional growth.
The
Company is family owned and was established from humble beginnings
in 1979 by the present Chairman, Ray Tungate. 1984 saw the
business
move to an industrial unit on the Brookhouse Industrial Estate,
in Cheadle, manufacturing in-house self-adhesive labels until
1986, when a purpose built factory was erected. This was subsequently
expanded to 20,000 sq ft of production, warehouse and administration
space, an adjacent site was purchased soon afterwards to allow
for further expansion, adding a further 50% of floor area for
manufacturing and warehousing, with the facility to add totally
new office accommodation. In 1999 the manufacturing area was
increased
to 40,000 sq. ft. During its period of continued growth and diversity,
the Company has achieved many prestigious industry and customer
awards, from such prestigious companies as Consignia, Toyota,
Alstrom, Hurel-Dubois and Asda.
 Our
People
Tungate is a heavy investor in people as well as plant. The belief
is that the right skills are every bit as important as the right
equipment. In fact, the Tungate workforce is central to the task
of monitoring and maintaining quality.
Tungate
has an experienced National Sales Team who have developed an
in-depth
understanding and application of customers needs which is supported
by full technical services. In addition a reprographics studio
facility and administrative teams dedicated to both home and
export
markets, ensures that we provide a world wide and complete service
to our customers.
Diversity
The Company is undergoing further expansion due to its large customer
base and the increased demand for its products and anticipates
considerable development and expansion for the future, in order
to satisfy its large customer base.
In
June 2000, the Company set up a research and development section,
within its premises, to look at new innovative printing techniques
and to evaluate production equipment.
Print
Management
To achieve superior print quality, a continuous high level of
investment in state-of-the-art manufacturing and process plant
is necessary. Once an improvement or process change can be demonstrated
to achieve higher total quality, the investment capital is invariably
released so as to take advantage of the developments in the shortest
time.
 Logistics
Tungate provides its own daily delivery service to its customers,
ensuring that goods are delivered safely and on-time. The Cheadle
factory has excellent storage facilities to provide space for
customers who cannot take complete orders at once, and who prefer
a just-in-time arrangement. The Company has a fully computerised
ordering system capable of managing raw material, in-process
and
delivery tracking facilities.
